I knew I was not pretty starting from 11 years old (around that time), Actually, "not pretty" is an understatement, I am not even plain but a bit.... 難睇. Did complain to Mom and Mom said "you are OK ah, At least 60 marks!!".

Now, if even your mom says you only worth 60, you should seriously start accepting that you are kind of  難睇. I have no views on plastic surgery but just do not want to waste money and time.

Why am I bringing this up? - I have a 謎思 since around 13 -14. I think if you are pretty or clever, you can earn easy money and you can retire early. Early Retirement has all along been my 人生目標. And hence I considered my face a hurdle to my life mission. Though I think I am not dumb, but not as clever as those who can earn quick money........

BUT, I just find out the truth

- cleverness and prettiness cannot guarantee early retirement. I have a very smart high school classmates (got 8As at Cert level in my days and 8As in the 80's were very different from the 9 or 10As now). Not only was she smart and witty, she has 大智慧. She got into HKU triple E. The last time I saw her, she was not a 乜乜工程師 but worked for an NGO. I think she chose to lead a meaningful life instead of a "moneyful" life.

As for pretty face, I've got a colleague who definitely could get herself into the Miss HK (or whatever), but she still had to workhard .

So, by the end of the day, it is really the kind of life you choose, your baseline, your principal that determines when you can retire.

AND I also found the merits of being not pretty,
- you can save money. I almost never bother buying pretty clothiings (except the few years when I started my career) as they won't work on me anyway. And last Sun, I cut my own hair. Save me $300 plus 2 hours at the salon.  Isn't that really nice

We (average person) can also lead a good life. 與平凡的人共勉之!!!!
