Last day is usually shopping day .... but met with a nice and interesting old lady....

when we get back to the Toyoko Inn after buying peaches (three large boxes) from 吉池 and got our supplies (including shoes for work, shirts, cat food, health food) 多慶屋 (another discount store - but the goods are generally more reliable than Donki)

... met an old lady at the lobby of Toyoko Inn

the old lady approached me to check whether I was a Chinese, when I affirmed this and said I was from HK (the conversation was all on paper using Hanji) - she just looked delighted. Noting that she seemed rather lonely, I tried to make conversation... she was already 69 and was taken from North-Eastern part of China (Man-ju) when she was 8. She now lives in Hokkaido....

I think old lady should have led a good life here in Japan (as she does not look 69 at all!!!) , but still, I think I saw some kind of lonliness in her eyes.... some documentaries I watched also said that these Chinese in Japan never really felt like home here (but at the same time also found it difficult to get back...) - though hubby and I both think that it is nice being in Japan - Hong Kong is still the home for us ....

As I've already got shoes for office, we decided to skip outlet and went to Nakano again ..... and stayed there for 5 solid hours!!! only bought a bit but most of the time, we just exclaimed at the nicely preserved antiques and old toys....

nonetheless, some of the stuff we bought were worth mentioning...

guess what ?? - this is one of the piggy banks (guess there could be 77 in total as this was the number of places participating at the 70 Expo) a Japanese Bank made specially for the 1970 Expo 日本万国博覧会held in Osaka (the first Expo held in Japan), and this bank represented Hong Kong .... we were regarded as fishermen then
