One day, when talking about where to go during annual leave....
classy colleague " Europe is nice.... "
Farm-lady " but good food is difficult to find... fine dining is fine but you have to book well in advance... dress up .... and is rather pricy.... Musuems are sometimes congested....have to queue more than 1 hour to see Monet's work in Musee D'orsay!!"
Classy Colleague " Japan is nice too.... but I dunno what to do between meals"
Farm-lady " I can go to Europe for 3-4 days... just for the scenic places and food... in Provence or southern Italy... but would definitely starve to death afterwards... can't have western food for more than 4 days in a row... and flying all the way... just for 3-4 days sounds crazy....."
...then.... we both laughed!!!
Yes.... people's preference could be very different.... the farm-family is very domesticated.... even Japan... we try to make it feel "home".... and "home" is where good food is.....and where you know your way around
sushi... our love.... seems like that we would never get enough of this... that's why it is sooo easy for us to survive in Japan ...
heard about this new shop.... and booked a table straight away
Except for the dessert (which was just so so).... the food was generally and marginally better than sushi fukusae... but for the first time... we opt not to re-patronise... because... it really makes you feel that its target customers are the "rich and famous".... .. what's more.... the premium it charges does not seem to be proportional to the marginal difference in quality
friend P once said "壽司bar前無愁人".... yes... but Sushi Fukusae 福助 and Sushi Toku 德 would be good enough for us la!!!
